In Fall 2020 ITS is upgrading the antivirus/anti-malware software used across our academic campuses and replacing Microsoft Defender and Sophos with Falcon from CrowdStrike. Come learn how both ITS and unit IT staff can use the new tool to identify and prevent cyber threats before they compromise security.
In 2019, a small team of staff from across ITS came together to update a decades-old service: Targeted Email. Over the past year, the team integrated disparate technologies (drupal, maestro, MySQL, TeamDynamix, and our existing email campaign system) to build Targeted Email Self-Service (TESS), releasing it on August 21, 2020.
Building upon the existing CDMs for initiatives such as the Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Network (PCORnet) and the Accrual to Clinical Trials (ACT) Network, the Michigan Institute for Clinical and Health Research Network-Based Research Unit (MICHR NBRU) rapidly developed COVID-specific infrastructure with additional data elements that were being developed in real-time as the pandemic unfolded.

By leveraging the existing pain documentation, we were able to implement a custom formula driven flowsheet row, which automatically evaluates and files data each time a pain score is documented. This flowsheet row evaluates the current pain score being documented and compares it to the previous documentation, regardless of pain scale used for either. This allows us to track, in real time, if any pain score constitutes consecutive 7+ equivalency pain documentation.
To respond to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Learning Design and Delivery (LDD) team underwent a one-week transition from in-person to virtual training. The team selected and implemented a remote learning platform (WebEx), the LDD staff trained and became proficient in managing classes online, and entire courses were converted so that they could be effective in a virtual setting.
