When researchers at the Randall Building reported poor network performance ITS Network Infrastructure staff were tasked with identifying any degradations in the high speed network. This poster shows the tools and techniques used during the investigation, including lessons learned.

Sparked by record high requests for support related to Canvas, the ITS Teaching & Learning group offered the Teaching Online with Canvas Workshop Series in response to Covid-19. This daily, sequential workshop series was designed to support U-M faculty with their spring/summer/fall courses during 2020.

The MEDC is a secure data clearinghouse that helps researchers use State of Michigan education data to answer critical questions that improve outcomes for students. We'll overview the breadth of data now hosted at the U-M, discuss the process of aligning security requirements of two large organizations, and share how we're using ITS infrastructure to operationalize a data repository.

UM Audit Services performs over 40 audits every year with units across U-M's four campuses. Nearly every audit includes aspects of IT controls critical to the audit objectives and provide insight into common IT control gaps. The Audit Services IT team analyzed 5 years of audit findings to identify common IT control gaps, changes over time, and how units addressed the gaps.

When Governor Whitmer’s first “Stay Home, Stay Safe” Executive Order took effect on March 24, 2020, Health Information Technology and Services (HITS) teams collaborated to quickly develop and deliver two innovative services that were instrumental in bridging those gaps: Remote Desktop Access and Windows Virtual Desktop.
