Using AI to generate metadata and make data FAIR

Link to presentation poster

ICPSR, the world’s largest social science data archive located at the Institute for Social Research, pioneered an innovative AI driven tool to help make research data FAIR (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, and Reusable). Data depositors often provide insufficient descriptions of the data (metadata) making it harder to reuse. The poster delineates the development and application of this state-of-the-art metadata creation tool and how worldwide standards are integrated to ensure uniformity and consistency across datasets, thus streamlining the data submission process and enhancing the overall quality and usability of research data to support open science.
