Library Data Stewards
The University Library at U-M Ann Arbor includes the Hatcher Library, Shapiro Library, the Music Library, the Fine Arts Library, Taubman Health Sciences Library, and the Art, Architecture and Engineering Library (along with some sub-libraries within those buildings, and some off-campus spaces such as the library at the Biological Station). The University Library also provides the central catalog that includes materials from the U-M Flint Thompson Library and the U-M Ann Arbor Bentley Historical Library and Clements Library.
Library data includes information about:
- what the library owns (such as books, maps, archival collections, journals, and other materials) and licenses from third parties (such as full-text materials from thousands of publishers)
- library users, such as their U-M role, uniqname, name, address, and phone number (if it was provided to us)
- identified and de-identified data on item check-outs, materials requests, use of our document delivery services, use of the Special Collections Research Center
- identified and de-identified data on use of articles and databases that have been accessed via our third-party providers
- consultation and instruction activities, such as courses visited each semester and reasons people reach out to the library for assistance
