Academic Affairs Data Stewards
Course-based Materials data includes student and instructor documents and content created or used in the preparation or delivery of a course. This data is divided into four subcategories:
- Instructor-created course materials, such as syllabi, assignments, rubrics, slides, etc.
- Student work, such as assignment submissions, quiz responses, discussion posts, chat messages, etc.
- Grades and instructor comments on assignments and exams during the term.
- Canvas usage and analytics, such as date and time of access, length of interaction, etc.

Curriculum data includes information related to U-M's educational programs, courses, and overall academic structure. It can encompass a wide range of data points, including course descriptions, learning objectives, assessment methods, required prerequisites, and student performance metrics.

Educational technology data includes usage and analytics of the educational technology portfolio administered by the Center for Academic Innovation (CAI). Non-credit online education data includes usage, analytics, learner work, and learner performance metrics related to CAI’s online learning datasets, including the Online Learning Data Warehouse, Coursera, Redshift, edX.

Financial Aid data derives from highly sensitive personal information and encompasses information about eligibility, types and amounts of financial aid awarded to students, and the sources of that aid. Examples include family income, scholarship/loan information, work-study terms, FAFSA verification documentation, etc.

Budget data related to the funding, allocation, and management of the General Fund across the Ann Arbor campus including the schools, colleges, and other academic and institutional units. The General Fund encompasses tuition and fees, state appropriations, and recovered indirect costs.

Student records includes any information directly related to and identifiable with a student that the university centrally maintains. The data is categorized into what remains constant throughout a student's academic career (such as ethnicity, SAT test scores, high school GPA, and earned degrees), what can change from term to term (like academic level, academic career, term GPA, and enrolled credits), and what can vary from class to class (such as subject, catalog number, earned grade, etc.).
