New Normal - Pandemic Changed the Expectations (Panel Discussion)

2022 Michigan IT Symposium - Helping to shape the future of learning, research & care - November 16 & 17, 2022

Due to A/V issues, the introduction and the first five minutes were not captured in the session recording. The symposium planning committee apologizes for the inconvenience of this issue.

The pandemic has been a disruptive event for all of us. We have made numerous accommodations in all aspects of our lives including teaching, learning, research, and administrative work to maintain continuity during this unprecedented event. As we return to our new normal, the expectations of our students, faculty, staff, and alumni have also changed. As we transition to in-person instruction and on-campus residential experience for our students the expectations have evolved such that many of the pandemic adaptations have become the new normal.

In this presentation, representatives from students, faculty, and staff will discuss how the expectations have evolved over the last couple of years. We will also discuss some new challenges presented in this new normal. Understanding the new expectations and challenges for each constituent group will allow us to align our resources to best support the needs of the U-M academic community, now and in the future.
