Abstract
Following the Michigan mandate to transmit all prescriptions electronically by October 1, 2021, the School of Dentistry required a mechanism to deliver training to all dental school students, regardless of their location, and to support staff & faculty providers ahead of upgrades to the MiDent patient record system.
To prepare our staff, faculty and students ahead of the upgrade and to complement the in person training following it, the MiDent upgrade project group and Instructional Design within Dental Informatics chose to explore and develop a mix of written and software simulated training built using Articulate 360. This was delivered online to help rapidly output this information to the U-M Dentistry community to explore and be guided safely in their own time before making use of the software in practice on campus.
Through developing this training we explored the use of different activities not previously deployed in previous courses on Canvas as well as found useful tools for course development internally and we hope to continue and expand the use of Storyline 360, Review 360 and other Articulate 360 tools for future course developments within the School of Dentistry.
