IT Capital Request Process

The ITS capital request process is used to fund investments greater than $1 million to support university-wide technology. Once it has been determined that a capital request is needed, an ITS leadership team member will sponsor business case development and work with campus unit(s) to identify requirements, alternative solutions, and obtain cost estimates. Completed capital requests are submitted to appropriate U-M executive officers for approval. Developing a business case and securing a funding decision is a rigorous process that can take 6–18 months, sometimes longer.

Michigan Medicine units should follow the capital planning process for the hospital and health centers.
