Welcome to Day 2 - A Reflection & An Encouragement

2022 Michigan IT Symposium - Helping to shape the future of learning, research & care - November 16 & 17, 2022

A Reflection and An Encouragement...Remembering a Colleague

Joel Iverson, one of the co-event coordinators for the Michigan IT Symposium, provides a brief welcome to Day 2 of the 2022 Michigan IT Symposium in a new hybrid format. This event marks the first time the Michigan IT Symposium has been held in person since the fall of 2019, due to the Covid 19 Pandemic.

The video represents a small portion of the welcome. The daily announcements and general information have been deleted, but we want to share a special segment of what was shared before Day 2 began. Joel reflected on the loss of a dear colleague, Patty Giorgio from the ITS communications team, a few short days prior to the Symposium. He shared how her personality and character came to mind while listening to the themes he heard in the leadership message by Ravi Pendse, VP for IT and CIO and in the keynote address by Dr. Tazin Daniels during Day 1 of the Symposium and how important it would be for the attendees to meet and support each other where they are at the way Patty did those around her.
