Advancing Flexible and Resilient Networks (video)

Breakout Sessions: December 14, 4:15–5 p.m.

The U-M network is undergoing a period of significant change. Campus is in the middle of a technology refresh for the campus core and unit networks. Campus is also in the middle of a technology refresh for the WiFi network. At the same time, the bulk of faculty, staff, and students have returned to campus after an absence of a year and a half. These returnees have learned new ways of interacting with each other that they are now bringing back to campus and using to enhance the teaching and research mission of the university. This presentation updates the audience on the state of the campus network and WiFi refresh efforts and walks through how ITS is responding to this new campus environment with a focus on the impact to units. There is also a discussion reviewing how the networking team adapted to support a largely remote campus community.
