Study/Work Spaces using LibCal

Presented by: Justin DeNeen & Janet Przybylski | ITS

Abstract

LibCal is a flexible, highly configurable cloud based calendaring and space management tool. Originally used by University of Michigan libraries for managing event calendars, it was adopted by ITS during the pandemic to be used by students, for clean, safe, and socially distanced space reservations in buildings across both Ann Arbor and Dearborn campuses. Study Spaces provided an easy way for students to reserve spaces on campus that were properly cleaned, socially distanced, and secure. Beyond just reserving spaces to study, we've also worked with Dining to configure areas within dining halls that are reservable. With University of Michigan staff continuing to embrace remote work, being able to reserve a private cubicle, office, or conference room for on-campus work is quickly becoming a new requirement. Work Spaces powered by LibCal is a solution we're offering to departments who are setting up shared on-site cubicles, offices, and conference rooms. Work Spaces allows users to quickly and easily book a reservation in offices around campus.
