The Campus Network: Evolving to the Next Generation of Technology During a Pandemic (Video)

2020 Michigan IT Symposium - November 10-12, 2020 - Innovative Solutions to Support the University Mission

Breakout Sessions: Thursday, 3–3:45 p.m.

The university network continues to evolve. FY21 is shaping up to be a major inflection point for the campus network. We are looking to transform the campus Wi-Fi environment, the campus core, networks in the data centers, and networks in the units.

This presentation will give an overview of those changes and discuss the impact on various segments of the university community. In addition, the presentation will give an overview of how the network team has responded to the demands of supporting the university community during a pandemic. We will cover topics as diverse as creating the Remote Office Hours Queue, building Wi-Fi into canopies, assisting students in connecting to campus, and enabling our staff to work from home.
