Greetings everyone,
Now more than ever, creating opportunities for the entire academic community to participate in discussions, presentations, and lectures about today’s issues is vitally important. We also want to improve the ability for members of our community with and without disabilities to more fully engage in virtual communications, teachings, research, and more.
To that end, I am pleased to share that U‑M faculty, staff, and students have access to a new, beta feature in Zoom that provides automatic live transcription for meetings and webinars. Please note that this feature is not currently available in Zoom for Health.
With this new feature, Zoom now offers synchronous and asynchronous transcription capabilities. More detailed information about Zoom accessibility is available online. Accommodation needs vary, so please consult the materials to determine which option best meets your needs.
As test users of this beta feature, U‑M will have the ability to inform and help shape the future of the product—so please contact the ITS Service Center with your feedback, questions, or concerns. As always, reach out to me any time I can be of help.
