NextGen Michigan Strategy and Accomplishments

Strategy

Cutting-edge technology is absolutely critical for pursuing the intellectual challenges of our time. NextGen Michigan was a strategy for changing the university's IT service approach and investing in the Next Generation of technology.

"When we established NextGen Michigan, our goal was to establish U-M as the leaders and best in providing a campus IT environment that dramatically advances the university's academic, teaching, research, and clinical programs," said Laura Patterson, U-M's chief information officer from 2009-2015. "Working together, our accomplishments have been significant. By building on the momentum of our past successes and the strength of our IT staff, U-M has the opportunity to position itself as the country's premier institution for technology-enabled research and engaged, digitally enhanced learning."

Accomplishments

The NextGen Michigan strategy drove IT-related strategic decision making, and the university has accomplished much of what it set out to achieve.
